The Eberswalde district was a district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district in the GDR from 1952 to 1990 . It existed from 1990 to 1993 as the Eberswalde district in the state of Brandenburg. It was formed from parts of the old Prussian districts of Oberbarnim and Angermünde and was merged in 1993 in the new Brandenburg district of Barnim . The municipality of Bölkendorf came to the district of Uckermark .
The seat of the district administration was in Eberswalde , from 1970 to mid-1993 in Eberswalde-Finow .

history
As part of the administrative reform of the GDR on July 25, 1952, the district of Eberswalde was rebuilt from parts of the previous districts of Oberbarnim and Angermünde and the urban district of Eberswalde. With reunification in 1990, the Eberswalde district became a district under German municipal law . On May 17, 1990, the district was also formally renamed the Eberswalde district. From October 3, 1990 it belonged to the state of Brandenburg . The district seat was the city of Eberswalde-Finow .

In 1992 the administrative communities of Amt Barnim-Nord , Amt Britz-Chorin , Amt Oderberg , Amt Joachimsthal (Schorfheide) and Amt Biesenthal-Barnim (together with municipalities in the district of Bernau) are formed. Bölkendorf merged with 21 other communities in the Angermünde district to form the Angermünde-Land office .
In the course of the district reform in Brandenburg , the district of Eberswalde went up on December 6, 1993 together with the districts of Bernau and Bad Freienwalde in the new Brandenburg district of Barnim .
License Plate
Motor vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) and trailers were assigned three-letter distinctive signs starting with the letter pairs EF and EG from around 1974 to the end of 1990 . The last number plate series used for motorcycles was ES 00-01 to ES 10-45 .
At the beginning of 1991 the district received the distinctive mark EW . It was issued until the end of 1993. It has been available in the Barnim district since March 19, 2013 .
