Kristina Klebe (* 1985 in New York City , New York , United States ) is a German- American actress .

Life

Family and education

Kristina Klebe was born in New York as the daughter of German immigrants. She grew up in New York, where she also attended high school , but lived with her family in Germany, France and Italy as a child and teenager . She is a niece of the French actor Pierre Brice . At the age of 15 she went to Aix-en-Provence as an exchange student for six months . When she came of age, she worked as an intern at a film distribution company in Paris .

She studied at Dartmouth College ( political science and theater / film) at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts (writing and directing) and Theater Studies at the National Theater Institute of the Eugene O'Neill National Theater Center in Waterford , Connecticut . During her studies she spent a year abroad in Siena when she was 20 years old .

Beginnings in the theater

Inspired by her German family and her uncle Pierre Brice, Klebe started acting at an early age. When she was 14, she performed on an off-Broadway stage in New York. Her career as a professional actress also began on various New York off-Broadway stages (Jean Cocteau Repertory Theater, Underwood Theater, 59E59, NY Theater Workshop, The Public Theater), where she appeared in various productions between 2003 and 2007 and in classic theater roles such as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet , Beatrice in The Servant of Two Lords and Dorimène in The Citizen as a Nobleman .

Movie and TV

In 2004 she began her film career in the USA with first roles with directors such as Spike Lee , Griffin Dunne and Rob Zombie , in whose Halloween remake of 2007 she starred as Lynda.

In the horror thriller Proxy (2013) shown at the Toronto International Film Festival , with cinematic allusions to Rosemary's baby , she played Anika Barön, the lesbian lover of the main female character Esther, who attacked her and killed the child in her stomach. She also had a leading role in the critically acclaimed New York Times theatrical production Dementia . In Don't Kill It (2016) she played with Dolph Lundgren . In the US fantasy film Hellboy - Call of Darkness by Neil Marshall , which was released in US and German cinemas in April 2019, she embodies the director Leni Riefenstahl .

She has also appeared in front of the camera in the USA for TV series such as Law & Order , Criminal Minds , CSI: Miami and Navy CIS .

German language productions

In addition to her work in the USA, Klebe is also regularly involved in German-language cinema and TV productions.

In 2011 she took on a leading role alongside Rudolf Martin , Fabian Stumm , Ben Bela Böhm and Janina Elkin in the feature film Bela Kiss: Prologue by Lucien Förstner , a horror thriller about the Hungarian serial killer Béla Kiss , which was released in theaters in January 2013.

For her role in the Franz Kafka film Der Bau (2014) with Axel Prahl , Devid Striesow and Robert Stadlober , she was nominated as best German actress at the Jupiter Award 2016.

She played several times in the ZDF television series Katie Fforde , where she was seen alongside Harald Krassnitzer , Gesine Cukrowski and Regula Grauwiller .

In the second and third seasons of the ZDF series Professor T. (2018-2019) Kristina Klebe played the psychologist Josephine Delius in a continuous series lead role, who developed into the opponent of Professor Thalheim. In the 5th season of the ZDF series Dr. Klein (2019) took on a guest role as Vero von Walden, the former girlfriend of Dr. Klein's partner, Volker Beier ( Manou Lubowski ).

Private

In her youth, Klebe was active as a tournament rider and trained her own horse . She later gave up her hobby in favor of acting. She has been involved in the French-American Aid for Children aid organization for many years . In addition, she supports the animal welfare organizations Best Friends Animal Society and Much Love Animal Rescue as a volunteer and with foster care to find homes for rescued animals. Her hobbies include horse riding , diving , writing , traveling and music . Klebe is also a trained rescue diver .

Klebe lives in New York, Munich and temporarily in Los Angeles .
