In February Balta sprinted her fourth national record in Kuressaare over the rarely run 50 meters with a time of 6.35 s. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, she started again in the long jump, where she failed again with a width of 6.38 m in qualification. With a width of 6.87 m, she won the gold medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin with a national record and world record for the year . At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , she finished eighth with 6.62 m.

After a long break as a track and field athlete, Balta started at the 2016 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Portland , where she finished seventh in the final. At the European Championships in Amsterdam , she just barely missed a medal in fourth. Malaika Mihambo had the same distance of 6.65 m but the better second attempt. Thanks to her achievements, she was able to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was able to reach sixth place in the final . In 2017, she achieved fifth place with 6.79 m in the final of the European Indoor Athletics Championships . At the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , she finished eighth with 6.57 m.
