from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Landscapes from Austria (also Beautiful Austria ) is a definitive stamp series from Austria , which was published from 1973 to 1984. Each stamp shows an Austrian landscape or an Austrian building.

Drafting and printing

The design comes from Otto Zeiller . For the normal values , intaglio printing and halftone printing were used as a combination printing . Only gravure printing was used for the machine brand. The stamps were printed in sheets, the machine brand was also produced as a roll brand.

particularities

The value of 3.00 Schilling ( Bischofsmütze ) was also produced in a small format for machines.

This series of stamps has values of 4.20 Schillings and 5.60 Schillings. These stamps were intended for the Kleinwalsertal in Vorarlberg, the domestic postage of the Austrian post was valid for shipments to Austria, the domestic postage of the German federal post was valid for shipments to Germany , which made these values necessary.

The predecessor series were the Austrian monuments , followed by this definitive series of the monasteries and monasteries in Austria .

Market value

Since this series has been in use for a long time, the range is relatively high. In mint condition the values with high face values are of course most valuable. However, the price fell slightly due to the changeover to the euro (which means that the brands are no longer valid). A mint stamp of 50.00 Schilling from 1975 can be bought for EUR 3.00 at online auctions. In the stamped state, you can get around 1000 stamps for one euro at online auctions, which corresponds to a value of 0.1 euro cents per stamp. A complete series (28 values) is neatly canceled for 5.00 euros, mint never hinged for 15.00 euros. Individual, beautifully canceled stamps (with round stamps and clearly legible date and place information) are traded much higher. The values given here are empirical values and cannot be compared with the catalog prices, which are usually much higher. Catalog prices are, however, suitable for comparing stamps with one another. (Prices as of 2006)

Edition numbers

The edition numbers of the stamps are not known, but the most common items are the values of 2.50 Schilling, 3.00 Schilling and 4.00 Schilling, as these denominations covered a frequently used postage rate for a long time. One can assume that some of these values have a circulation of several hundred million pieces. The rarest values in this series are: 0.20 Schilling, 4.20 Schilling, 5.60 Schilling and 50.00 Schilling.
