The Lauchernalp is an alp and a holiday settlement above the municipality of Wiler at 1969  m above sea level. M. in the Lötschental in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Location and transport links

The Lauchernalp is located on a sun terrace and offers a beautiful view of the Lötschental with its mountain range from the Bietschhorn to the Lötschenlücke .

The holiday village can be reached from Wiler via the 100-seater panorama aerial cableway, which was built in 1972 and has since been completely renovated . A multi-storey car park and open parking spaces are available for visitors at the valley station of the aerial tramway . Wiler can be reached by car from the south via Gampel in Valais Rhone Valley and Goppenstein or from the north by the car train of BLS AG from Kandersteg to Goppenstein. The road from Goppenstein to Lötschental has been built to be winter-proof.

The Lauchernalp is easily accessible by public transport. From the Goppenstein train station, the post bus goes to the valley station of the cable car in Wiler.

Lauchernalp is a small holiday resort with a hotel, a mountain inn, restaurants, a sports shop and many chalets and holiday apartments.

The Lauchernalp is located in a beautiful hiking area. The Lötschentaler Höhenweg runs from Goppenstein over the Faldumalp, the Kummenalp, the Lauchernalp to the Fafleralp . It takes about eight hours for the entire high route. However, it can also be covered in two stages. For the most popular section from Lauchernalp to Fafleralp, three hours of walking must be expected. This section of the route has been part of the regional route 56 Lötschberg-Panoramaweg ( Kiental –Fafleralp) from Wanderland Schweiz since 2008 . The ascent or descent is possible from all valley communities.

Another pass hike leads over the Restipass to Leukerbad .

winter

The Lauchernalp is the center of alpine skiing in the Lötschental. The ski area offers 55 km of groomed slopes and a large freeride area for skiing and snowboarding. In 2003, the Lauchernalp winter sports area was expanded to include the glacier lift on the Hockenhorngrat at an altitude of 3,111 meters, making it the seventh-highest skiing area in Switzerland (after Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Verbier, St. Moritz, Saas-Grund and Belalp). A 15-seater gondola lift, two chairlifts, a ski lift and two small ski lifts at the children's play park are available in the ski area.

Europe's highest winter hiking trail runs on the Hockenhorngrat at over 3000  m above sea level. M.
