coat of arms

Laupertshausen around 1900
St. James & Pelagius Church

The coat of arms of Laupertshausen shows a yellow / gold sword on a red background. This is lined on both sides by a silver / white shell. These two objects are each symbol of the church saints of the places: the shell for St. James and the sword for St. Pelagius . The colors come from the coats of arms of the former local lords Holzapfel / Biberach and the lords of Ellmannsweiler. In its current form, the coat of arms was awarded on June 6, 1957 by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior.

history

The history of Laupertshausen begins in 1275 as " Laiboltzhusen ". Further mentions are made as: " Lainboltzhusen " (1324) and " Laboltzhusen " (1353). Based on the place-name ending "- hausen " it is assumed that the origins of the village lie in the Merovingian period. The mention of 1275 concerns Laupertshausen as a parish of the deanery Laupheim - Schwendi . Laupertshausen was free property of the Holzapfel family from Biberach, who sold half of the village to the Biberach hospital in 1468 . The remaining half, which meanwhile belonged to the lords of Ulm, Mittelbiberach and Neu-Ulm, bought the hospital a little more than 200 years later, in 1699. After that, the village was under the rule of the free imperial city of Biberach. In 1803 the village first became Baden and in 1806 Württemberg .

On January 1, 1975, Laupertshausen was incorporated into Maselheim.
