Selmnau is a district of the Bavarian municipality Wasserburg in the district of Lindau (Bodensee) in Germany .

location

The village is located on a gentle southern slope in the northwest of the municipality of Wasserburg and on the border with Baden-Württemberg in the Hege district . The closest places are Hattnau and the Kressbronn district of Retterschen .

history

Selmnau was part of the municipality of Hege until 1971. This was incorporated into Wasserburg on January 1, 1972.

Attractions

The village is known for its Antonius Chapel , a former hermitage . In its current form, the chapel was built in baroque style in 1696. The furnishings include a Gothic Madonna figure and several baroque sculptures. The chapel stands on a moraine hill that offers a wide view over Lake Constance .
It is the station of the Upper Swabian Way of
St. James from Ulm to Nonnenhorn, which runs through the village .
