action

Laura moves from the country to the city with her family. After a nightly shower of falling stars , she finds a small injured star in the park and takes it home with her. She takes care of his broken point and quickly makes friends with her star. This enchants Laura's toys and helps her to feel a little more comfortable in the big city. But Laura soon notices that the star is homesick and loses its luminosity.

One evening when Laura tries to bring her mother's cello bow to the opera with the help of the star , she crashes with the star when the only sticky point is lost again. With the help of the neighbor boy Max and the sun in the opera setting, she can heal the star and bring it back to the starry sky. After this adventure, she feels at home in the new city.

background

According to Baumgart, the participants made use of the various elements of the cartoon series that appeared in 2002. The buildings of the city and the development of the characters did not have to be completely rethought. Nevertheless, new protagonists were introduced in favor of the dramaturgy, such as the neighbor boy Max or Laura's lively cuddly toys.

music

The film music was composed by Hans Zimmer and Nick Glennie-Smith and recorded by the Babelsberg German Film Orchestra . The songs in the film were sung by the German band Wonderwall . The official soundtrack for the film lasts almost 70 minutes and is distributed by the BMG Music Publishing label .

Reviews

"The story is lovingly animated and exquisite heartiness, the plot is stretched in episodic arcs with numerous small highlights, but never becomes so intense that it could frighten you."

- Daniel Däuber, cineman.de

“After almost 2 million books sold and a 13-part television series, Laura's star also found its way onto the cinema screen. The German Klaus Baumgart wrote the template and so the cinematic implementation was mainly in Germany - on a remarkable technical level and with musical support from the German composer Hans Zimmer, who has since become very successful in Hollywood. The whole thing is implemented appropriately and atmospherically - but without the really big highlights. Perhaps the dreamy story is a little too child-friendly in the end. For this target group the film is definitely a 'must'. "

- Frank Ehrlacher, moviemaster.de

Laura's star is a cute cartoon film suitable for children. The story and drawings are successful and suitable for small fans. Good film adaptation of the TV series and can easily keep up with this. "
