Lewis Vital Bogy (born April 9, 1813 in Sainte Genevieve , Sainte Genevieve County , Missouri , †  September 20, 1877 in St. Louis ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) who represented the state of Missouri in the US Senate .

Lewis Bogy was initially hired by the school in a store before it in Illinois law studied. In 1835 he graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington ( Kentucky ) and began working as a lawyer in St. Louis. As a soldier he fought in the Black Hawk War .

In 1838 Bogy became an alderman in St. Louis. Between 1840 and 1841 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives ; another term of office followed there from 1854 to 1855. From 1867 to 1868 he was the commissioner for Indian affairs for the city of St. Louis, and in 1872 he was president of the city council. He was one of the founders of the St. Louis Iron Mountain Railway and served as its president for two years.

Finally, in 1872, he was elected to the United States Senate. Lewis Bogy took up his mandate in Washington on March 4, 1873, but died while in office on September 20, 1877.
