List of national parks and nature parks in Croatia
There are a total of eight national parks in Croatia and eleven other protected areas ( nature parks ). Each national park is managed individually and is subject to state supervision by the Ministry of Nature Conservation and Spatial Development.
A total of 4,464.25 km 2 of the area of Croatia are under nature protection. This makes up about 5% of the Croatian state territory.

The eight national parks
There are three national parks on islands ( Kornati , Brijuni and Mljet ). Two national parks are located in the Karst ( Plitvice Lakes and the Krka Waterfalls ). Two more are located in the Velebit massif and offer fascinating karst landscapes as well as a diverse flora and fauna ( Northern Velebit and Paklenica ).

Protected nature reserves
- The Bijele and Samarske stijene in the Kapela mountain range
- The Rožanski kuk and Hajdučki kuk in the Velebit mountain range
These areas are even more strictly protected than the national parks - no human interventions that impair natural development are permitted in them.
