List of tallest residential buildings in the world
The list of tallest residential buildings in the world lists all buildings in the world used for residential purposes by height, completed or under construction.
Residential use is given when 85 percent or more of the total floor space is used for apartments.
The high rise residential trend is a new emerging model, so most of these buildings on the list are currently under construction. While in the past most skyscrapers housed only offices, a trend towards residential high-rise buildings can increasingly be seen since the 21st century (as well as mixed-use high-rise buildings).
The officially tallest residential building since 2016 is 432 Park Avenue in New York City with a height of 426 meters. Previously, Dubai claimed the title with the Princess Tower (414 meters), the 23 Marina (393 meters) and The Torch, which with 348 meters replaced the Q1 Tower in the Australian Gold Coast (323 meters). This building was to be replaced by the Pentominium, also located in Dubai, with a height of 516 meters and 122 storeys, but construction on this project was discontinued for an indefinite period for economic reasons. Numerous other tall residential towers are still being built around the world. The Central Park Tower was opened in New York City , at 472 meters the tallest residential building in the world.
