List of castles and palaces in Saxony-Anhalt
There is a large number of castles and palaces in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt . These buildings, some of which can look back on 1000 years of history, were the scene of historical events, the workplaces of well-known personalities and are often still impressive buildings today. Ornamental and replicas that were never used as residential buildings or for defense are not listed .

From the high Middle Ages onwards the following cannon fortifications were expanded through urban development. Hanseatic city with customs law. First besieged by Tilly in the Thirty Years War, then stormed, captured, looted and completely destroyed. Eighty percent of Magdeburg's people were killed. The city never fully recovered from the aftermath of the war. At that time Magdeburg was the size of Paris. | |

Angern | Moated castle | The original castle was built in 1341, in 1448 the castle was lent to the von der Schulenburg family , and in 1567 it became the property of the family. In 1630 the castle was destroyed. The palace was rebuilt in 1736, and in 1843 it was rebuilt by Edo Friedrich von der Schulenburg . From 1949 to 1990 an agricultural vocational school was located in the castle. Since the beginning of the nineteen-nineties, it went back together with the associated lands and forests, which are now ecologically managed, cherished and looked after by those of the Schulenburg (in the sense of a traditional, yet modern manor). In the castle itself there is, among other things, the estate office, a hall and the count's rooms as well as five rental apartments. The current landlord, Alexander von der Schulenburg, takes care of the maintenance of the facility after extensive renovations. | |
