Honorary citizen

Adolf Hitler's honorary citizenship, which was granted during National Socialism, was revoked by a resolution of the council - but only in 2007. According to media reports, it was long unclear whether Hitler was granted honorary citizenship, as the relevant files were lost in the turmoil of World War II.

Bearer of the honor coin

After the award of honorary citizenship, the award of the honor coin is the second highest distinction that the city of Emden awards. The award of the honor coin was introduced in 1986, the first holder was Henri Nannen. The following people have been honored so far:
