Lucien Storme (born June 18, 1916 in Nieuwkerke , † April 10, 1945 in Siegburg ) was a Belgian cyclist .

Lucien Storme was a professional cyclist from 1937 to 1942. The greatest success of his career was his victory in 1938 at Paris – Roubaix . In 1939 he started in the Tour de France , won a half-stage, but later gave up.

Since the income opportunities for professional cyclists were barely enough to survive during the Second World War , Storme began to smuggle tobacco and gasoline across the border into France . In 1942 he was arrested for this reason and from March 1943 he was imprisoned in Siegburg in Germany . American troops reached the city on April 10, 1945 , and in the turmoil of the liberation Storme was mistakenly shot by a GI who mistook him for a German soldier who wanted to draw his weapon.
