MOS Technology 6525

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 6525 TRI-PORT Interface (TPI) is a tri-state input / output module from the former company MOS Technology from the 1980s and simplified I / O operations in microcomputer systems of that time such as the Amiga A570 . It combines two dedicated 8-bit inputs / outputs with a third 8-bit port which can be programmed for normal input and output operations or prioritized interrupt / handshake control. Depending on the selected mode, the 6525 can provide 24 individually programmable inputs / outputs or 16 inputs / outputs, 2 handshake lines and 5 prioritized interrupt inputs.

Processor data

  • 24 individually programmable inputs / outputs or inputs / outputs, 2 handshake lines and 5 interrupt inputs
  • prioritized - or non-prioritized interrupts
  • Automatic handshake
  • Fully static operation
  • 8 directly addressable registers
  • 1 MHz, 2 MHz and 3 MHz operation

use

The 6525 TRI-PORT interface input / output module was used in the Amiga A570, a CD-ROM drive for the Amiga 500 , in the CDTV (Commodore Dynamic Total Vision) from Commodore , in the controller chips of the CBM II series (keyboard and IEEE) and in the 5¼ inch floppy disk drive for the 264 series home computer series ( C16 , C116 , Plus / 4 ) in the mainboard and paddleboard.
