Mark Zengerle (born May 12, 1989 in Rochester , New York ) is an American - German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League since 2020 .
Career
Zengerle began his career in high school in New York. There he played from 2003 to 2005 for the Gates-Chilli , before moving to the Northwood School Preperatory in 2005 , where he played in another high school league. From the summer of 2007 he was on the ice for a year for the Syracuse Stars , from there the path led to the British Columbia Hockey League , where he played for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for two years . In his first season in the BCHL, Mark Zengerle was voted the most valuable player of the season, at the same time he was the player with the most assists, the latter he was able to achieve again in the coming year. After his time in Salmon Arm Zengerle went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison , in addition to his four-year studies, he played there for the college ice hockey team.
Starting in 2014, Mark Zengerle was on the ice for three years in the American Hockey League , where he was active for the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms . In his first season for the Griffins, he was the rookie with the most assists in the playoffs. After a short trip to the Svenska Hockeyligan , Mark Zengerle returned to the United States in 2017 to join the Milwaukee Admirals .
The American-German ice hockey player, who was born in Rochester, has been playing in Germany for Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven since October 2018 . With the Pinguins Zengerle was able to convince right away, led the first attack formation and was top scorer of his team with 52 points (14 goals) from 46 games. This put him in eighth place in the league scoring list, with 38 assists the most successful preparer for the main round 2018/19 and ended the season with his team in seventh place in the table. In the pre- play-offs, the penguins were eliminated by the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . After another strong season with the Penguins (with 39 points from 41 games) he signed a contract for the 2020/21 season with the Eisbären Berlin .
