Massimo Ambrosini (born May 29, 1977 in Pesaro ( PU ), Italy ) is a former Italian football player . After Paolo Maldini's resignation , he was AC Milan captain from 2009 to 2013 .

Career

In the club

Ambrosini began his career in the 1994/95 season with Serie B club AC Cesena . In 1995 he moved to AC Milan. In order to collect match practice, he was loaned to Vicenza Calcio a year later. In the 1998/99 season he came back to Milan and was able to fight for a regular place there. With Milan Ambrosini was four times champion (1996, 1999, 2004, 2011), cup winner (2003), Italian Supercup winner (2004) and twice the UEFA Champions League (2003, 2007) as well as the European Supercup (2003, 2007) and the club -Win the World Championship (2007).

After his contract expired on June 30, 2013, Ambrosini left the club and moved to league rivals Fiorentina .

In the national team

Ambrosini is a former national player. He made his international debut in April 1999 against Croatia . He was unable to take part in the 2002 World Cup because of a knee injury. He was not nominated for the 2004 European Championships and 2006 World Cup . For this he took part with Italy in the European Championship in 2008 and was used in all four games.
