Matthias Aebischer (born October 18, 1967 in Schwarzenburg ; resident in Guggisberg ) is a Swiss journalist , moderator and politician ( SP ).

Life

Matthias Aebischer attended schools in Schwarzenburg and completed the state teachers' seminar in Bern . From 1988 to 1990 he worked as a teacher in Ligerz . In 1990 he began his journalistic activities at what was then Radio Förderband , and from 1992 at the Swiss Radio DRS . From 1994 to 1999 he worked on the sports department of Swiss television . From 1999 to 2006 he worked as an editor and presenter for the Tagesschau and the Kassensturz . From August 1, 2006 to January 20, 2009, he hosted the discussion show Club . Until 2011 he worked again as a reporter for the Tagesschau. Because he ran as a candidate for the 2011 National Council elections , he had to quit his job with Swiss television.

Aebischer presides over several associations and foundations. Among other things, he is president of Pro Velo Switzerland , the Swiss further education association SVEB , the umbrella organization of the Swiss film and audiovisual industry Cinésuisse, since December 11, 2013 of the Board of Trustees Stockalperturm in Valais and the running event Grand Prix of Bern .

Aebischer was also a lecturer in the field of media and communication at the University of Freiburg from the spring semester 2001 to the spring semester 2015 .

Aebischer is divorced, has four daughters and lives in Marziliquartier in Bern . He is in a relationship with the glp national councilor Tiana Angelina Moser .

politics

Aebischer was elected to the National Council in the canton of Bern on October 23, 2011 . In the elections on October 20, 2019, he was re-elected for a further four years. He is a member of the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications, the Commission for Science, Education and Culture and the Judicial Commission. In 2014 and 2015 he presided over the Science, Education and Culture Commission.
