Nadine Masshardt (born October 4, 1984 in Affoltern am Albis ; resident in Bern and Mühlethurnen ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ). She has been a member of the National Council since 2013 . In addition, Masshardt is vice-president of the SP parliamentary group.

Life

Masshardt grew up in Langenthal (BE) . After graduating from the Oberaargau grammar school , she studied history and philosophy at the University of Freiburg . From 2010 to 2012 she worked as a program assistant and research assistant at the Federal Finance Administration. From 2012 to 2014 she was a project manager at a communications agency.

She lives in Bern with her partner and their two children .

politics

City Councilor Langenthal (2004-2010)

In 2004, Masshardt was elected as the youngest member of the city council of Langenthal, where she politicized until 2010. In the city council of Langenthal, she campaigned, among other things, for the renovation of Wuhrplatz, the introduction of the Kulturlegi or the guideline motion.

Grand Council of the Canton of Bern (2006-2013)

Masshardt was also the youngest member to be elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern in spring 2006 . She was a member of the Grand Council until 2013. In the Grand Council, Masshardt was primarily involved in energy and family policy and in the initiative (later rejected in the referendum) to introduce voting age 16, the campaign of which she led.

National Council (since 2013)

In 2013 Masshardt replaced Ursula Wyss (Wyss was elected to the municipal council of the city ​​of Bern ) in the National Council . Since joining the National Council, Masshardt has been politicizing in the National Council's SPK State Political Commission. She heads the delegation of the Social Democratic Group in the SPK. Since 2015 Masshardt has also been Vice President of the SP parliamentary group in the National Council.

In the National Council, Masshardt deals in particular with the areas of energy, transport, environmental and family policy.

In the 2019 Swiss parliamentary elections , Masshardt is the political election campaign leader of the SP Switzerland. In this function, she takes on external campaign communication in German-speaking Switzerland and is the contact person for candidates and party members.

In addition, Masshardt is co-president of the non-partisan transparency initiative, which requires parties and committees to transparently disclose large donations of over CHF 10,000. She has also been Co-President of the WW Canton of Bern since 2007. In this role, she advocates measures to combat global warming, the promotion of renewable energies, more energy efficiency and attractive public transport.
