Matthias Freihof (born November 25, 1961 in Plauen ) is a German actor and voice actor .

Life

After graduating from high school and completing his three years of military service in the NVA , Freihof studied at the Ernst Busch drama school in Berlin . He made his debut at the Berlin Maxim Gorki Theater . With the leading role as teacher Philipp Klarmann in Coming Out , the first GDR film with a homosexual content, he achieved his breakthrough in 1989. As a teacher Boris Magnus from 1996 to 1997 in ARD - soap opera Marienhof to see. From 1998 to 2003 he played the role of the assistant Lorenz Wigand of Chief Inspector Siska in the ZDF crime series of the same name . Freihof was also active as a singer. One of his songs is titled Taste your life for chamomile tea (1989). In 1993 he released the album Passions together with the band L'art de passage .

At times he taught as a lecturer at the Ernst Busch Drama School and the Berlin Drama School .

In the movie Operation Walküre - Das Stauffenberg assassination , which reconstructs the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 and in which Tom Cruise took over the part of Stauffenberg , Freihof played the Reichsführer SS , Heinrich Himmler . However, his two short scenes were cut out so that he could not be seen in the final theatrical version.

Freihof lives in Berlin. He is openly gay .
