occupation

Stubbe - From time to time (at first only from case to case ) is a German crime series of the ZDF , which aired 1995-2014. Wolfgang Stumph took over the title role of chief detective Wilfried Stubbe , who moved from Dresden to Hamburg and investigated there. In December 2018, with Death on the island, a special episode in which Stubbe can be seen as a pensioner after his time as an investigator was broadcast.

action

Inspector Stubbe is characterized by his calm and humorous way with which he solves his cases without much action. The cases take place in all walks of life in the city of Hamburg. Stubbe's fact-obsessed partner Bernd Zimmermann likes to let the facts speak for themselves when it comes to getting ahead in a case, while the sensitive Stubbe often recognizes the emotional side of the case and uses it to solve the cases. Nevertheless, he is dependent on Zimmermann's reliability. Solving a crime is always closely linked to the private life of the commissioner. Intergenerational conflicts between Stubbe, his daughter Christiane and his aunt-in-law Charlotte, with whom he lives under one roof, are discussed. His wife Caroline dies suddenly in episode 23 of love and death . The framework then focuses on the widower Stubbe.

characters

Wilfried Stubbe

Wilfried Stubbe and his family moved from Dresden to Hamburg in the mid-1990s. At first he doesn't like it there and he wants to get back as soon as possible. Only gradually does he learn to accept his new hometown.

Stubbe is a dedicated and persistent investigator who very often relies on his feelings. This often leads to disputes with his colleague Zimmermann, for whom the facts are more important. The commissioner's full commitment to his job sometimes has a negative impact on family life. Almost without exception, he rides his bike to his office. The sudden death of his wife Caroline is a severe blow to Stubbe, and he suffers extremely from it. In episode 43 he falls in love with his colleague Marlene Berger , with whom he moves to Dresden in episode 50.

Caroline Stubbe

She initially works as an employee in a horticultural company and later becomes self-employed in this field. However, the beginning is difficult and she fights hard for orders. She is a loving mother and important support for Stubbe. In the episode Auf Liebe und Tod (2003), Caroline Stubbe dies surprisingly of an embolism after being hit by a car.

The actresses Marie Gruber (1995–1997; episodes 1–11) and Renate Krößner (1997–2003; episodes 12–23) played Caroline Stubbe, known as Caro .

Bernd Zimmermann

He is Stubbe's partner in the Hamburg criminal police . While Stubbe is more on the side of the common people, Zimmermann has a weakness for the higher social circles. In the first few years there was visible tension between Zimmermann and Stubbe, as Zimmermann did not want to accept the qualities of his new colleague. Over time, however, the two grow closer, and especially after the death of Stubbe's wife, Zimmermann becomes more than just a colleague.

Christiane Stubbe

The role of Christiane (also called Chris or Chrissy ) is played by Stephanie Stumph , the daughter of Wolfgang Stumph. Christiane has a good relationship with her parents, a social streak and a large group of friends. After her mother's death, she first moves in with her boyfriend Alex and then moves into a shared apartment. After finishing school, she works as a waitress, until, to her father's displeasure, she finally decides to pursue a career as a journalist. She is with the photographer Helge Kleinert, whom she met during her time as an intern at a Hamburg newspaper. They have a daughter named Caroline, named after her late mother.

Charlotte Hoyn

She is Caroline's aunt. After the death of her husband, she looked for a new family connection and brought the Stubbe family from Dresden to their villa in Hamburg. After initial difficulties between the West aunt and the East Germans, they get together and get along well. Charlotte ( called Charlie by Christiane ) has a crazy quirk she pursues in many episodes; it acts as a running gag of the series.

Helge Kleinert

He is Christiane's partner and father of her daughter Caroline. As a freelance photographer, he is often out and about and sometimes not reliable when making appointments with the family. He comes from a difficult social background and has a half-brother whom he has to help in episode 47 ( blood brothers ) and gets into trouble himself.

Marlene Berger

She works in the KTU , falls in love Stubbe and his new girlfriend from issue 43 attendants .

Minor characters

Fabian Stubbe

Since he had to leave his clique and girlfriend behind when he moved from Dresden to Hamburg, he initially went into opposition to his family. But then he gives in to fate and accepts Hamburg as the family's new home. He is completing an apprenticeship as a bank clerk in the bank, in which his late great-uncle Gustav held an important position. Since Fabian feels too restricted by his family, he emigrates to Brazil in episode 8 ( Stubbe goes underground ) after completing his apprenticeship and does not appear in the following episodes.

Detective Gessler

The boss of Zimmermann und Stubbe attaches great importance to discretion - several times he punishes Stubbe for stirring up the Hamburg upper class. Therefore Zimmermann is preferred by him for assignments in high society. Gessler was an important figure, especially at the beginning of the series.

Alex

He is in the episodes On Love and Death , Sacrifice in Twilight and Yesterday Christiane's friend, with whom she first moves in together, but then she separates from him.

Maria

She is a member of the shared apartment in which Christiane lives after separating from her boyfriend Alex. She has one child and is a journalist. She throws Christiane and Jutta out of the apartment, even though they often looked after their daughter.

Jutta

She is also a roommate of the flat share. After Maria threw Christiane and her out of the shared apartment, Jutta was initially accommodated in a caravan, where Christiane also stayed. The two persuade Stubbe to expand the attic in his house so that the two girls can move in there. Jutta has developed into Christiane's best friend in recent years.

Commissioner Klowe

He learned in Zimmermann's and Stubbe's department and takes on his first case in episode 5 ( Stubbe and the Stubber ). He is shot dead in a bank robbery in episode 10 ( Stubbe and the killers ).

Heike Fuchs

In episode 11 ( Stubbe and Elli , where Zimmermann speaks to her on the phone with Solveg) she takes on the role of helping force as an intern (as a replacement for Klowe). Her last appearance was in episode 18 ( gunshot ), in which she starts out as a patrol officer.

Gerhard Rönke

He is the head of the horticultural company where Caroline initially works. Rönke has an eye on her and keeps making advances, although Caroline always rejects him. She later leaves his company and becomes self-employed.

Claudia

She is a qualified psychologist and becomes Stubbe's new friend after Caroline's death. She appeared in four episodes (30-33).

Tina Rosinsky

From episode 33, Third Love, she works as a colleague in the office of the two commissioners.

background

The Stubbes' house (from episode 14) is on rented property at Moorfleeter Deich 73 , which is located directly on the dike.

Another location was the Mecklenburg Elbe town of Boizenburg , where shooting took place between October 14th and 17th, 2008.

With Heike Trinker's entry in episode 43 as Marlene Berger, the crime series has a new opening credits for the fourth time after episodes 8, 14 and 24.
