Mattia Gaspari (born September 14, 1993 in Pieve di Cadore ) is an Italian skeleton pilot .

Career

Mattia Gaspari lives in Cortina d'Ampezzo and started playing skeleton in 2009. In the winters of 2009/10 and 2010/11 he took part in the first three international races in the European Cup and placed between positions 19 and 25. In 2011/12 he started six of the eight races of the season and achieved two placings in the top 20 he competed in the Junior World Championships for the first time in January 2012 and finished 16th in Igls . At the beginning of 2013, he finished 6th in the same place, his first top 10 result in the European Cup.

In the winter of 2013/14 Mattia Gaspari started in the Intercontinental Cup for the first time after two races in the European Cup and reached places between 11 and 16 in four races. In January 2014 he made his debut in the World Cup with 26th place in Winterberg . At the 2014 Junior World Championships, he was fifth. In February 2014 he became Italian champion for the first time . The 2014/15 season began for him with four races in the Intercontinental Cup, in which he achieved three top 10 results. In the World Cup he was able to move into midfield for the first time with four results between ranks 13 and 15. At the Italian championship he won silver behind Joseph Cecchini and at the Junior World Championships he was sixth. At the European Championships he finished 10th and at the World Championships 21st place. In the 2015/16 season, Gaspari finished in the top 10 in the World Cup for the first time and also won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Winterberg.
