Maximillian Michael Brooks (born May 22, 1972 in New York City ) is an American writer and screenwriter . He is the son of director Mel Brooks and actress Anne Bancroft .

Career

Max Brooks studied history at Pitzer College and was active as a writer on the television show Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2003 .

Brooks is the author of The Zombie Survival Guide , published in 2003 . This humorous guide explains in great detail how to survive in a world full of zombies.

Max Brooks book World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (German title: Operation Zombie: Who lives longer, is dead later ), in which it is about a war between humans and zombies , appeared in the United States on 12. September 2006. The book became a bestseller, selling over a million copies by November 2011. Paramount Pictures acquired the filming rights to World War Z for about one million US dollars . Brad Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment was World War Z produce, which appeared in June 2013 in theaters. Pitt himself plays the main character Gerry Lane.

Minecraft - The Island was released in 2018 . The book is the first official Minecraft - novel.

Brooks has been married to screenwriter Michelle Kholos since 2003 . Since 2005 they have had a son together named Henry Michael.

Max Brooks made guest appearances on Roseanne , Pacific Blue, and A Heavenly Family . He was also a voice actor on the animated series Batman of the Future , Captain Buzz Lightyear - Star Command and The Justice League . In March 2012, he was in front of the camera for the Discovery Channel in the reality TV series Sons of Guns , subsequently Zombie Killer .
