Michael Börgerding

Michael Börgerding (* 1960 in Lohne , Lower Saxony ) is a German cultural worker , theater dramaturge and general manager at the Bremen Theater .

biography

Börgerding studied German , sociology and philosophy at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . From 1987 to 1989 he was responsible for various production dramaturgies at the Junge Theater Göttingen before he worked as a dramaturge and director at the same theater for the next four years .

In 1993 he moved to the Schauspielhaus Hannover as a dramaturge and in the course of time also accepted teaching assignments at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover and the University of Applied Sciences Hannover . From 2000 Börgerding worked in the position of chief dramaturge at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg . He was also a member of its management and was given teaching assignments at the University of Hamburg . On October 1, 2005, he was appointed the first director of the Hamburg Theater Academy , which unites the acting and directing courses of the Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT) under one roof. At the university, Börgerding holds the position of dean of the dean's office II (theater academy, singing) and is therefore a member of the extended executive committee with an advisory capacity.

In 2010, the Bremen State Councilor for Culture Carmen Emigholz confirmed that Börgerding would take up the advertised position as the new director of the Bremen Theater from 2012 . He will be the successor to a transitional directorate that replaced Hans-Joachim Frey , who retired early in 2010 . Börgerding emphasized that he wanted to promote young talent and put the main focus at the Vierspartenhaus on the drama. He relies on contemporary theater. Börgerding, who also published articles in renowned specialist journals such as Die Deutsche Bühne , Theater heute and Theater der Zeit , lives in Bremen.
