Michael "Mike" Brockman (born August 7, 1945 in Orlando ; † October 14, 2019 in Westport ) was an American entrepreneur, racing car driver and stunt driver .

Racing career

Mike Brockman, who was a nuclear weapons technician during his military service , had a long career as a racing driver. Between 1967 and 2005 he competed in 94 sports car races in which he celebrated five class wins. He competed several times in the Sebring 12-hour race and the Daytona 24-hour race, and once in the Le Mans 24-hour race . The best place in Sebring was third overall in 1973 , together with Ron Grable and John Greenwood in a Corvette C3 . In Daytona, where he ended his driving career in 2005 in the team of his close friend Paul Newman , he also achieved third place overall, which he achieved in 1995 on a Roush - Ford Mustang with Paul Newman as a partner .

Mike Brockman was a regular participant in the IMSA-GTP series in the 1990s and drove a Manthey - Porsche 911 GT3-R in 2000 at Le Mans in 27th place overall. In addition to racing, Brock , as his nickname was, was active as a stunt driver. He also tested vehicles for Motor Trend Magazine and ran a Mazda dealership in Westport .
