The Montenegrin national women's handball team represents Montenegro at international tournaments in women's handball . The association has been a member of the IHF since 2007 and the first qualification for a major tournament was the women's selection for the 2007 World Cup . This and the two following qualifications were unsuccessful when they failed twice in the playoffs.

In qualifying for the European Championship 2010 , Montenegro prevailed as group winners ahead of Russia. At this tournament, the selection won again in their first European Championship game against Russia. In the end, Montenegro took 6th place. A year later, Montenegro finished 10th at the World Cup . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , the team won the silver medal. In December 2012, Montenegro won the European Championship . In the final, the Montenegrins successfully beat defending champions Norway 34:31 .
