The Myrtle Beach Speedway , formerly Rambi Raceway, a racetrack in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina . It has the shape of a tri-oval and a length of 0.538 miles or the equivalent of 0.865 km. NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races take place on the speedway .
history
The speedway opened in 1958 as the Rambi Raceway . At that time it was still a pure "dirt" course on loose, unpaved ground, on which races of the NASCAR Grand National Series , today's Sprint Cup, were held. Among others, drivers like Richard Petty , David Pearson , Donny and Bobby Allison or Ned Jarrett competed in these races between 1958 and 1966 .
Nick Lucas bought the track in 1968, before Billy Hardey co-owned it in 1987. In 1978 the oval, which has been paved since then, was rebuilt. From 1988 to 2000 the speedway was on the racing calendar of the NASCAR Busch Series .
