1969 NHL Amateur Draft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NHL Amateur Draft in 1969 , the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League , was on 12 June 1969 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Canadian Montreal in the Province of Quebec instead.

A total of 84 players were drawn in ten rounds. The draft can probably best be described as the first draft that equates to today's talent draw, as more than 24 players had never been selected before. With the Finn Tommi Salmelainen , a European was selected for the first time. Not the first draft picks, but two players who had secured the Philadelphia Flyers caused a sensation in the following years. Bobby Clarke and Dave Schultz were pillars of the team that has repeatedly won the Stanley Cup .
