Nachtschicht - Ladies First is a German television film from 2016. The fourteenth part of the ZDF crime series Nachtschicht premiered at the Hamburg Film Festival on October 1, 2016 and was broadcast for the first time on February 20, 2017 on ZDF.

action

Chief Inspector Erichsen and Yannick Kruse from the Hamburg Criminal Police Service are called to a very spectacular car accident that night. The party involved in the accident is Jacky Herbst, a successful comedian who is on the way to an appearance. He claims the car was shot and he saw a sniper on the bridge. At first glance, however, the officers cannot detect any damage from the bullet, whereas both the alleged driver Holm Brülls and Jacky Herbst are under the influence of drugs. Only later does an officer find two cartridge cases and when Holm Brülls is actually shot a short time later, the officers have to take the hint seriously. Well-founded suspicions fall on the criminal offender and dealer Marvin Weber, to whom Jacky Herbst owes money and who had just threatened him with a gun. However, since the shots at the car very quickly turned out to be a "stupid prank" by a twelve-year-old, about which Weber could not have known anything to commit a murder, the officers investigate in a different direction. Jacky Herbst and Holm Brülls were involved in a rape case a few months ago. According to Herbst, only something went wrong at a backstage party, but the victim, comedy colleague Carlotta, is still in a coma and it has been proven that knockout drops were involved . It looks like the nurse Salvatore Müller has developed into a self-proclaimed avenger. The ward in the hospital where Carlotta is cared for is part of his work area and he has long been a fan of the comedy queen. Shortly after the investigators realized this connection, Müller shoots Marvin Weber, whom he blames for Carlotta's condition. Because he supplies the media stars with drugs, which in this case were of poor quality and had led to Charlotte's coma. Emma Graf, Herbst's opponent in the accident, is Müller's colleague and from her he had learned the story of the shots at Herbst and Brülls, which gave him the idea of "playing" the avenger. In order to punish the last of the guilty in his opinion, he finally brings Jacky Herbst into his power. But Erichsen and Kruse prevent him from killing him too and arrest Müller.

Reviews

Thomas Gehringer from Tittelbach-TV rated the episode positively and wrote: “'Ladies First' captivates with its speed, wit and the clever idea that the comedians and their punch lines are the least funny here. As usual, author and director Lars Becker offers original characters, great dialogues and an exquisite ensemble (Jürgen Vogel, Nora von Waldstätten, Henry Hübchen) in his 'Nachtschicht'. [...] The story is a little confusing, not always conclusive, but wonderfully over the top! "

Sinedy Schering said atquotemeter.de: “Jürgen Vogel mixes up the ZDF crime series as a Mario Barth blend.” He went on to write: “Armin Rohde again gives his usual confident performance as a humorous, yet serious investigator, whose cozy charisma in the Film is efficiently outweighed by Nora von Waldstätten [...]. "

Tilmann P. Gangloff calls the film on evangelisch.de a " grotesque ". “It's strange the tenacity with which the outstanding crime director Lars Becker regularly tries his hand at comedies; as if he wanted to prove that the cliché of the comedian who finally wants to be taken seriously also exists the other way round. ” Night shift: Ladies First is“ neither fish nor meat. ”“ The bottom line is that Becker simply wants too much, especially since he has not succeeded to harmoniously combine the different levels of action and genre, which is why the film does not build up real tension either as a crime thriller or dramaturgically.
