Nolana adansonii is a plant type from the genus Nolana in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nolana adansonii is a shrub with curved stems that already flowers as an annual plant and is hairless except for a few papillae . The foliage leaves have 5 to 7 mm long petioles that often clearly encompass the stems . The leaf blade is flat, kidney-shaped-heart-shaped or almost heart-shaped, rounded at the tip, usually 8 to 9 mm wide and not quite as long.

The 2 to 3 mm long flower stalks stand upright at flowering time, but can also be curved and protruding on the fruit. The calyx is bell-shaped, about 5 mm long and extended to about 7 mm on the fruit. The slightly unequal length, ovate-elongated calyx tips are very blunt, slightly ciliate and almost as long as the calyx tube. The crown is colored blue, about 1.5 cm long and hardly widened towards the tip. The stamens are slightly unequal in length.

The collective fruit consists of 15 to 20 almost spherical nuts , which are in two to three rows on the firm and coarse ovary bulge and make up about half of the flower base . The top two to five nuts have a diameter of 1.5 to 2 mm, the rest of about 1 mm.

Occurrence and systematics

The species occurs in Peru . Phylogenetic studies showed that the species within the genus is closest related to Nolana arenicola (also from Peru) and Nolana galapagensis (from the Galápagos Islands ). These species form a monophyletic clade .
