Nona Iwanowa Karadschowa (also written Nona Ivanova Karadzova , Bulgarian Нона Иванова Караджова ; born August 28, 1960 in Silistra ) is a Bulgarian politician and former Minister for Ecology and Water Resources of the country.

Life

Nona Karadschowa was born on August 28, 1960 in the northern Bulgarian city of Silistra. She graduated from the “Karl Marx” business school (bulg. Висш икономически институт ) - today the University of National and World Economy - and has a degree in business administration . From 1984 to 1991 Karadschowa worked at the Economic Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the Regional Policy and Ecology Directorate. She later completed advanced training in public administration at the International Training Institute in Washington, DC

Under Prime Minister Ivan Kostov , she became head of the “Strategy, European Integration and International Cooperation” Directorate. Even under the government of Simeon Sakskoburggotski , Karadschowa remained a leading expert in the ministry and worked under Minister Dolores Arsenova . During Bulgaria's accession negotiations for EU enlargement in 2007 , Karadschowa headed them in the field of ecology for the Bulgarian side. Several bills in the areas of ecology and acquis communautaire have been drawn up under her leadership . She also led the development of the state's strategy in the area of ​​ecology in the planning period 2005–2014.

In the parliamentary elections that followed in 2005 , a grand coalition was formed between the NDSW , BSP and DPS . The new Minister for Ecology and Water Resources in Sergei Stanishev's cabinet was Dschwed Chkarow . Due to disagreements with the new minister, Karadschowa resigned from her job in the ministry. In the time after that she worked as a private consultant in the ecological sector. She owned the company "Proekti Konsult" (bugl. Проекти консулт , status: 2009).

After the party GERB the general election in 2009 had won, was Karadjova Minister for Ecology and water resources in the cabinet of Boyko Borissov , which she remained until-2013.
