Norvel Lee
Norvel Lee (born September 22, 1924 in Eagle Rock (Virginia) , † August 19, 1992 in Bethesda (Maryland) ) was an American boxer . Lee was an Olympic champion in 1952 and a bronze medalist at the 1951 and 1955 Pan American Games .
Career
Lee was the American heavyweight champion (+80 kg) in 1950 and 1951.
In 1948 Lee could not qualify for the Olympic Games because he lost to Elbert Jay Lambert in the US trials. At the Pan American Games in 1951 Lee won the bronze medal because he lost in the semifinals against Victor Bignon, Chile .
At the Olympic Games in 1952 , Lee reached the final after victories over Claude Arnaiz, France (3: 0), Tadeusz Grzelak , Poland (3: 0), and Harri Siljander , Finland (3: 0), the final, which he defeated Antonio Pacenza , Argentina (3-0), won and became Olympic champion.
In 1955 Lee took part again in the Pan American Games and won the bronze medal again.
