Italy took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris with a delegation of 200 athletes (196 men and 4 women) in 93 competitions in 18 competitions.

The Italian athletes won eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals. Olympic champions were the weightlifter Pierino Gabetti in the featherweight, Carlo Galimberti in the middleweight and Giuseppe Tonani in the heavyweight, the athlete Ugo Frigerio in the 10 km walk, the cyclists Angelo De Martini , Alfredo Dinale , Aurelio Menegazzi and Francesco Zucchetti in the track team pursuit, the Fencers Renato Anselmi , Guido Balzarini , Marcello Bertinetti , Bino Bini , Vincenzo Cuccia , Oreste Moricca , Oreste Puliti and Giulio Sarrocchi in the team competition with the saber, the gymnast Francesco Martino on the rings and the men's gymnastics team in the team all-around competition. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was Ugo Frigerio.
