Italy took part in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp with a delegation of 174 athletes (173 men and one woman) in 79 competitions in 18 competitions.

The Italian athletes won 13 gold, five silver and five bronze medals. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the fencer Nedo Nadi , who became a five-time Olympic champion . He won two gold medals in individual competitions and three other gold medals in team competitions, making him the second most successful Olympic athlete of the Games after the US marksman Willis A. Lee , who won seven medals, including five gold medals.
