Towards the end of the 9/25 PS construction period, Opel introduced a simplified version of this vehicle with a smaller engine and a smaller range of body versions.

The engine was a side-controlled four - cylinder in - line engine with a displacement of 2042 cm³, which produced 25 hp (18.4 kW) at 1600 rpm. performed. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a leather cone clutch, a manual four-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft .

The steel longitudinal member frame had auxiliary frames to accommodate the two rigid axles, which were suspended on semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs. The service brake was designed as a band brake and acted on the transmission output shaft.

The 8M21 was available as a six- to seven-seat torpedo or four-door Pullman sedan .

At the end of 1922, production of the 8M21 and the normal 9/25 hp ended. The 8/40 hp model built from 1928 onwards can only be regarded as the successor .
