The Opel Commodore is an upper middle class vehicle from Adam Opel AG . In South Africa and some European countries but the model was also under the model name Ranger A , Ranger B commercially.
Model history
General
In March 1972 the Commodore B model , based on the Opel Rekord D , was introduced. These types were the first of the GM group in which the load on the passenger compartment was calculated with computers .

Commodore 2.5 (6-cylinder in-line engine, 1 register carburetor , 85 kW / 115 PS, 1972-1977)

Commodore 2.8 (6-cylinder in-line engine, 1 register carburetor, 96 kW / 130 PS; from 1975: 95 kW / 129 PS, 1973–1977)
Commodore GS 2.8 (6-cylinder in-line engine, 2 register carburetors, 104 kW / 142 PS; from 1975: 103 kW / 140 PS, 1973–1977)
Commodore GS / E 2.8 (6-cylinder in-line engine, electronic injection Bosch D-Jetronic , 118 kW / 160 PS; from 1975: 114 kW / 155 PS, 1972–1977)
The 2.8 GS / E was the top model with a top speed of 200 km / h. The electronic D-Jetronic from Bosch was used as the injection system . Only the GS / E was equipped with power steering as standard.

Velor seats
The body variants of the Commodore B were a four-door sedan and a two-door coupé. In addition, some prototypes with the 2.8 injection engine as a five-door station wagon (e.g. for the German Ski Association), as well as a three-door delivery van with the GS / E engine were created. Despite Commodore technology, they were officially record models.
Between January 1972 and July 1977, 140,827 units of the Commodore B were built, 42,279 of which were coupés.
