Pagefox

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pagefox is a desktop publishing software from Scanntronik from 1987 for the C64 and C128 home computers , which was delivered on a plug-in module for the expansion port. It is one of the most extensive application programs available for the C64 / 128 (D). Compared to its "little brother" Printfox , Pagefox offers many new capabilities and a much more comfortable operation. The program was written by Hans Haberl .

As with Printfox, the text is first written in a pure text editor and then transferred to the graphics memory as a bitmap. Any font can be used. In contrast to its predecessor, the page layout can be graphically edited in its own layout editor, and images are automatically inserted in the places defined there when formatting.

In the graphics editor, an entire A4 page (640 × 800 points) can be displayed, edited and printed, but the respective graphics work area is always a section of 320 × 200 points. A reduced full or half-page display provides an overview.

Since the bitmap of the entire page does not fit into the memory of the C64, the Pagefox module contains 64 KB of ROM (for the program and the fonts) and 32 KB of RAM.
