Paul Enquist

Paul N. Enquist (born December 13, 1955 in Seattle ) is a former American rower and Olympic champion in double sculls .

The 1.98 m tall Enquist finished sixth in double sculls at the 1983 World Championships together with Brad Alan Lewis . Of the five ahead of the two US rowers boats only the world champion boat which entered East Germany because of the Olympic boycott not with the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in. In the first run in Los Angeles, the German two (bronze last year) won ahead of Lewis and Enquist and the Norwegian vice world champions. In the second heat, the Belgians, who were not among the top twelve boats last year, won. Lewis and Enquist qualified with a victory against the Yugoslavs in the repechage for the final. In the final, the two Americans won ahead of the Belgians and the Yugoslavs. It was the first Olympic victory for a US boat in rowing competitions since 1964 .
