Sébastien Vieilledent

Sébastien Vieilledent (born August 26, 1976 in Cannes ) is a French Olympic champion in rowing .

Career

In 1994 Vieilledent was Junior World Champion in double sculls . He had his first appearance at world championships in the adult class in 1995 when he finished seventh with the quadruple scull , a year later he took twelfth place with the French quadruple scull at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . In the following years he competed in double sculls, singles and quadruples in the World Cup and at world championships, without ever getting into the top three. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , he finished tenth with the double foursome.

In 2001 he formed a double scull with Adrien Hardy . The two finished second at the World Championships in Lucerne behind the Hungarians Ákos Haller and Tibor Pető . In 2002 the two French only reached the B final and placed seventh. In 2003 Hardy and Vieilledent won their first World Cup race in Milan. The 2003 World Rowing Championships were held on the same route, where the two French won ahead of the Italians Rossano Galtarossa and Alessio Sartori . In the 2004 season the World Cup results were quite different, after a tenth place in Poznan, a third place in Munich and a fourth place in Lucerne. At the 2004 Olympic Games, the French won ahead of the Slovenian defending champions Luka Špik and Iztok Čop , while Galtarossa / Sartori received the bronze medal.

Vieilledent has been a trainer since his resignation in 2005. He is a knight of the French Legion of Honor .
