Paul Gartler (born March 10, 1997 in Gleisdorf ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper .
Career
society
Gartler began his career in his hometown at SC Gleisdorf in 1919 . In 2009 he joined the youth team at SK Sturm Graz . In 2012 he moved to the SK Rapid Vienna Academy . After being in the squad for the first time in March 2013, he made his debut for the Rapidler amateur team in the Regionalliga in March 2014 , when he played against SC Wiener Viktoria on matchday 16 of the 2013/14 season with a score of 1: 2 in the 62 .Minute came on for defender Bernhard Fila after Tobias Knoflach was sent off. Subsequently, he received four more hits; the game ended 3: 6. In May 2016, he was also part of the Bundesliga professionals for the first time .
In January 2017 Gartler was awarded to the second division club Kapfenberger SV . He made his debut in the second division in March 2016 when he was in the starting line-up against SC Austria Lustenau on matchday 22 of the 2016/17 season .
After he had returned to Rapid after the loan ended and had started the preparation there, his contract was extended and he was loaned out again to Kapfenberg in July 2017. After the loan ended, he returned to Rapid for the 2018/19 season.
He finally made his debut in the Bundesliga in June 2020 when he was in the starting line-up against TSV Hartberg on matchday 27 of the 2019/20 season. Actually, Tobias Knoflach should have played instead of him, but he suffered an injury to the Achilles tendon while warming up.
National team
Gartler already played for various Austrian youth national selections. With the U-19 selection , he took part in the European Championship in 2016 and was used in all of Austria's games.
In March 2017 he made his debut against the Netherlands for the U-21 selection .
Personal
Gartler's uncle is the former national player Richard Niederbacher (* 1961).
