Paul Haghedooren (born October 11, 1959 in Kortrijk , † November 9, 1997 in Bruges ) was a Belgian cyclist .

Paul Haghedooren was a professional racing driver from 1982 to 1994. His greatest success was winning the Belgian road championship in 1985. He took part in the Tour de France five times ; his best place was 33rd, also in 1985 .

In the late 1980s, Haghedooren was noticed in several doping tests , which is why he consulted Manfred Donike in Cologne to prove his innocence. Indeed, he was found to have a naturally high testosterone level.

Three years after Haghedooren ended his professional career, he suffered a heart attack during a fun fair race in Belgium; however, the doctors could not discover any organic reasons. Two months later he collapsed while jogging on Knokke Beach and was taken by helicopter to the hospital in Bruges, where he died.
