Peter Ulrich Gerd Ostermeyer (born October 12, 1943 in Bärwalde in the Neumark ) is a German chess master .

Life

Ostermeyer, who has a doctorate in maths , was German youth chess champion in 1961 and 1962 (ahead of Neunhöffer and Robert Huebner, respectively ). In 1974 he won the German championship in Menden . In 1981 the World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of International Master . In 1982 he finished second in Bad Neuenahr together with Herbert Bastian in the German championship, which Manfred Glienke won. In 1984 he was again in Bad Neuenahr, a shared runner-up in the German championship, this time with Frank Schönthier behind Eric Lobron .

Until the early 1980s, Ostermeyer was a lecturer in mathematics in Düsseldorf , but he left his academic career to devote himself to chess. He took part for the Federal Republic of Germany in the chess Olympiads in 1976 in Haifa and 1984 in Thessaloniki as well as the European team championship in 1977 in Moscow . In the four-track 1st Bundesliga , Ostermeyer played a total of 40 games between 1974 and 1980 for the Düsseldorf SG Rochade and SG Enger / Spenge. For SG Enger / Spenge he also played in the 2nd Bundesliga West in the 1980/81 season , then from 1981 to 1986 in the 1st Bundesliga for SG Porz , with which he became German team champion in 1982 and 1984 . He then played for the Solingen SG 1868 until 1988 , with which he became champions in 1987 and 1988 . In 1988 he moved back to SG Porz and was part of the first division team there until 1990. He then played with the second team of SG Porz in the 2nd Bundesliga until 1996 , but had six appearances in the first team in the 1994/95 season.

Peter Ostermeyer has lived in Würzburg again since the late 1990s . From 2001 to the 2010/11 season he played for the 1919 chess club Heidingsfeld in Würzburg on the 1st board in the Lower Franconian league . After the chess club was dissolved, he and a large part of his teammates went to the neighboring TSV 1869 Rottendorf . There he is on the first board in the Regionalliga North / West. With TSV 1869 Rottendorf , he was promoted to the Northern Bavarian League in 2015.

Ostermeyer is listed as inactive at FIDE, as he did not play an Elo rated game after the Bodensee Cup in May 2003 in Pfullingen .
