coat of arms

Philippsheim coat of arms
Blazon : "Divided by blue over silver, above a silver fish, below a black stonemason's mark in the form of a four-headed shaft with a double lintel rafter."
Founding of the coat of arms: Oral tradition tells of the founding of Philippsheim in 1721, that the founder, Johann Philipp Probst, first built a hut on the fish-rich Kyll and operated the fishing. In memory of the foundation motif, a fish was added to the upper part of the shield.

The reason for the expansion of the settlement was the quarrying of the well-known Kyll sandstone on both sides of the river. The symbol of the stonemasons and stone sculptors in the lower part of the shield reminds of this primary economic structure .
