Pierre Meyrat (born October 16, 1916 - October 13, 1969 ) was a French racing car driver .

Career

Pierre Meyrat was active as a monoposto and sports car racing driver in the 1940s and 1950s . He drove his first races in 1947 and 1948 on a Delahaye 135S . He achieved his best results in 1949 on a Talbot-Lago T26C . At the Grand Prix des Frontières in Chimay he was fourth and third at the Coupe du Salon in Montlhéry .

In the sports car, he finished seventh in the 1948 Paris 12-hour race and third in the 1951 Portuguese Grand Prix .

He celebrated his greatest successes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he twice finished second in the overall standings. 1950 was Guy Mairesse his teammate. After a driving time of 24 hours or 255 laps, the two of their converted Talbot Lago Grand Prix cars were only missing one lap to their compatriots Louis and Jean-Louis Rosier , who also drove a Talbot. The following year Guy Maitresse was his teammate again. This time the second-placed duo was missing nine laps on the Jaguar XK 120 C of Peter Walker and Peter Whitehead .
