Placide Morency
Placide Morency (born September 4, 1887 in Québec , † in December 1980 ibid) was a Canadian singer (baritone).
Live and act
Morency often appeared in the Québec region with his wife Fernande Pelletier and his brother Laurent Morency , for example in the operetta Les Maris de Ginette by Félix Fourdrain . In 1921 he played Florestan de Valaincourt in André Messagers Véronique . In the 1920s he also worked with Honoré Vaillancourt's Société canadienne d'opérette .
Between 1922 and 1930 he recorded more than 50 titles on the Starr label , including religious songs ( Le Crucifix , Adeste fideles , L'Angélus , Vers son sanctuaire ), opera arias (from Carmen , Pagliacci , Manon , Le Cid , Le roi d 'Ys and Jocelyn ) and operetta melodies ( Les Cloches de Corneville , La Mascotte ) as well as songs by Jules Massenet , Cécile Chaminade , Enrico Toselli and Francesco Paolo Tosti .
He also made recordings of French variety music by Henri Christiné and Charles Borel-Clerc , of adaptations of American hits such as Dans les sentiers du souvenir , Tout seul and Toujours , several of which were written by Roméo Beaudry , as well as duet recordings (with his wife and with his Brother) from the operettas Véronique , La Mascotte , Mireille and Xavière .
