The most coveted individual prize is that of the best player. Prices in different categories and the awards ceremony will take place on the Monday following the final day of the Series A . On this occasion, the championship trophy will also be officially presented. The top scorer of the season, the best coach and the best referee receive further individual awards besides that of the best player. With the exception of the Fan Prize, the best are chosen by a panel of current and past players, coaches and journalists. The first three are awarded trophies in bronze, silver and gold.
The presentation took place from 2005 to 2010 in the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro - with the exception of the years 2008 and 2009, when it was not available due to restoration and therefore the Vivo Rio in Flamengo Park was used - and live from the Globo pay-TV offshoot SporTV broadcast. In 2011 the prize was awarded in the Auditório Ibirapuera designed by Oscar Niemeyer in São Paulo. After that, the venue changed several times, but always stayed in either São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. Since 2015, the award ceremony has been taking place at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Association CBF in Barra da Tijuca , a district of Rio de Janeiro.
