Rabbit Ears Range

The Rabbit Ears Range is a mountain range in the southern Rocky Mountains in the US state of Colorado and runs along the continental divide of North America. With a maximum height of 3,748 meters, it is one of the lowest mountains in this watershed.

The Rabbit Ears Range is located in the central north of Colorado and runs from the Colorado River for a length of around 50 km in a north-westerly direction, where it finally borders the southernmost part of the Wyoming Basin and together with the Park Range in the west and the Medicine Bow Mountains in the east forms the natural boundary of Jackson County in this basin . The highest peaks are on the continental divide in the northern part of the mountain range, where Parkview Mountain (3,748 m), Sheep Mountain (3,602 m) and Hyannis Peak (3,536 m) dominate the highest mountains. In the southern part, only Elk Mountain (3,481 m) stands out, while the rest of the mountains are largely below the tree line and are densely forested. The forest area north of the watershed belongs to the Routt National Forest , the southern part forms the Arapaho National Forest .

In the east, the Rabbit Ears Range is followed by the Never Summer Mountains - a relatively small mountain range that merges into the Front Range after a few kilometers .
