history

The name Rath comes from the word clearing and this is clearly visible today. No contiguous piece of forest reminds of the origin of the name. Rath and Anhoven belonged to the Jülich office of Wassenberg around 1312/50 under the name Rode and Aenhoven and appeared there in the Brabant fiefdom register. From 1554 it was called Raid, from 1669 Raydt and up to the present day by the Ruan, who were mighty in the Rhineland, and their inhabitants called Ruaner. Anhoven was already known by this name in 1558. Áneve and its inhabitants Ánever in Lower Franconia. Today Rath-Anhoven is a place that continues to expand across corridors and fields.

Infrastructure

In July 2011, 1570 people lived in Rath-Anhoven. Because of the large number of car dealerships, federal highway 57 is also known as the automobile mile. There is also a restaurant and a bistro, a hardware store, a shopping center, a gas station, an agricultural machinery dealer, a fruit juice manufacturer, a pastry manufacturer, several car repair workshops, two gardening shops, a gardening and landscaping company, several farms, some with horse keeping, a car paint shop, as well as several companies for wood, metal and plastic processing and numerous small businesses. Two bus stops on Bundesstraße 57 provide connections to Erkelenz, Wegberg and Mönchengladbach . The catholic kindergarten Rath-Anhoven is available for the children. A community elementary school ("Kastanienschule") has been set up in Rath-Anhoven.
