Regina König is a former German luge athlete . In the second half of the 1970s she was one of the best female luge athletes in West Germany.
Career
Regina König was initially active as a junior. At the Junior European Championships in 1975 in Oberhof she was 19th and last. Three years later she was fifth in Winterberg .
König achieved her greatest success when she won the overall ranking of the first ever Luge World Cup in the 1977/78 season , although she was only able to achieve a podium finish in Igls behind Andrea Fendt and Elke Djan . Nevertheless, after the four races of the season, she even distanced the two-time season winner Andrea Fendt to second place.
