Reiner Schöne (born January 19, 1942 in Fritzlar ) is a German actor , voice actor , singer , songwriter and author . He had his breakthrough in 1968 as the leading actor Berger in the German premiere of the rock musical Hair . He has acted in over 140 film and television productions to date.

Life

Early Years and Breakthrough

Reiner Schöne grew up in Weimar and studied acting from 1960 to 1963 at the acting studio of the German National Theater in Weimar. He was already successful as an actor and singer-songwriter in the GDR when he fled to West Germany in 1968 after a concert in West Berlin . In April 1968 he took part in the third GDR pop music competition in Magdeburg with the political song "Chansons von der Nahe Ferne" and came third.

In the West he made his breakthrough in the same year as the musical star Berger in the German premiere of Hair . He worked as a songwriter and singer (with the Reiner-Schoene-Band) and further in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar (1972). In 1970, Schöne took part in the German preliminary round for the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson and shared second place with Alone Under Millions – music and text by Günter Sonneborn . Despite this success, the title never appeared on disk. His biggest hit was the single Will I still be young when I'm older , with lyrics by Konstantin Wecker .

As an actor, Reiner Schöne has worked with Hollywood greats such as Lee Van Cleef ( Sabata Returns ) , Clint Eastwood ( On the Order of the Dragon ) and Kris Kristofferson ( America ) . In Germany he was in 1976 in the successful HR production The winter that was a summer . In 1985 he moved to the United States , where he settled on a ranch near Los Angeles . In Hollywood , he appeared in numerous well-known television series, including Starship Enterprise: The Next Century , MacGyver , Matlock , Murder Is Her Hobby , Babylon 5 and JAG . In 1990 he was presenter of the television show Fort Boyard on Sat.1 . One of his last Hollywood films was Crash Dive with Michael Dudikoff in 1997.

After almost twenty years in the USA, Schöne returned to Germany in 2002 and continued his career here. Through his participation in cinema films such as Zero Clock 12 , Otto - The Catastrophe Film , (T)Spaceship Surprise - Period 1 as well as in television films such as Die Totenfluppe von Köln (Sat.1) and Almost Perfectly Engaged (ProSieben), he quickly became a presence again. German series and series in which he played as a guest actor include Großstadtrevier , Edel & Starck and Das Traumschiff , as well as several Rosamunde Pilcher film adaptations . Schöne also took part in numerous children's and youth productions. In 2009 he appeared as Henry von Humboldt in the KiKA series Mystery Challenge . He played the role of the king in 2010 in the fairytale film The Blue Light of the ARD television series Six at a Prank and in 2015 in The White Snake , which was created as part of the ZDF series Fairytale Pearls .

Reiner Schöne was also known as a voice actor. B. Willem Dafoe in several films his voice, could be heard for Mickey Rourke in Sin City or spoke for Ralf Möller in Gladiator . He also voiced Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Rebels , Captain Teague in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End , Eddie Temple in Layer Cake , James Earl Jones in Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory , as well as Optimus Prime in the German version of the Transformers series. For the film Australia he was active as the voice of Bryan Brown . In the movie The Smurfs he spoke the role of Papa Smurf. In Iron Man 2 , he again voiced Mickey Rourke in his role as Ivan Vanko . He lent his voice to Sam Elliott in Hulk and Ghost Rider .

In the radio drama thriller series "The Test" by Wolfy Office, directed by Kim Jens Witzenleiter, he spoke Henry the policeman .

Since 2008 he has been the speaker at the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg. Already in 1996 he could be seen with them as Old Death in Winnetou und der Scout and in 2002 as Old Firehand in Im Tal des Todes .

Schöne has been the advertising spokesman for the DIY chain Toom Baumarkt for several years .

private

Reiner Schöne was married to actress Alexandra Bogojevic for a few years in the early 1980s . In 1996 he met the blues singer Francesca Capasso in the USA, married her and lived with her on a small ranch near Los Angeles. However, he often commuted between the USA and Germany. In 2002, the marriage broke up. Schöne left the United States that same year and returned to Germany.

During rehearsals for the play Jedermann he met (already at the time of his marriage to Francesca Capasso) the make-up artist and current partner Anja Drendel (* 1980). With her he has two daughters (* 2006 and * 2012). In July 2010, the couple married. The family lives in Berlin.
